Tasks included gathering of business requirements, architecture and technical documentations, including development of the Enterprise GIS.

EC staff involved identified immediate areas of improvements and developed a strategy to move towards a manageable IT/GIS environment based upon the following principles:

  • Focus on the Internet and browser-based technologies to share corporate GIS and other data, thus allowing multiple methods of access.
  • Utilise proven, robust and modular infrastructure such as Pocket PC and telecommunication mobile networks to deliver information between the office and remote users
  • Encourage the use of modules of systems and applications that can be re-used rather than being only useable within one system or application
  • Systems supports multiple methods of access
